FarmDefender™ Depth FD-84D — Install Guide

Document version: 1.2 (revised 2026-05-04) System serial: (your system serial) (e.g. FD-84D-26-0001)

The kit ships fully built. Your install is mechanical mounting and plugging in labeled, gender-keyed cables. Refer to the printed System Layout diagram for exact positions and routing.

Mount cameras

C1–C4 left wing (outer→inner), C5 center, C6–C9 right wing (inner→outer). Distances from center, mirrored left/right:

Pair From center
C1 / C9 11.64 m / 38.2' (outermost)
C2 / C8 8.73 m / 28.6'
C3 / C7 5.82 m / 19.1'
C4 / C6 2.91 m / 9.5' (innermost)
C5 center (0)

Cameras clamp to the 4" toolbar with the printed ring + worm-gear clamp. Lens points straight down (or 15° back if your build record specifies).

Mount everything else

  • Wing switches — one per wing, near the fold hinge, glands down, sheltered.
  • Central ECU — central frame, sheltered, within 2 m of toolbar centerline.
  • GPS antenna — sky-visible, within 3 m of the ECU (3 m SMA cable).
  • Starlink Mini — sky-visible (cab roof or air-cart frame).
  • Power converters — sheltered, near the ECU.

Wire

Match the labels. Push to seat — you'll feel the wedgelock click. Run in split-loom, zip-tie every 12–18", leave ~6" of slack at each connector.

The two wing-uplink cables (U1, U2) cross the fold hinge. Fold the wings up and back a few times before final zip-tying — they should curve, not pinch.

Power

7-pin implement-light plug → 10 A inline fuse → two 480 W 12V→48V converters in parallel → labeled DT-2 outputs to the ECU, both wing switches, and Starlink. All gender-keyed.

First boot

  1. Visual check — every connector mated, no exposed conductors.
  2. Tractor ignition on — system powers up automatically.
  3. Wait a minute — boot is automatic.

If anything looks wrong (no power lights, smoke, obvious damage), stop and call (406) 594-2767 before driving. Online status and operating instructions live in the digital user manual — link emailed at ship time.
